Library Program Explores Packard Proving Grounds History

John F. MacArthur
Seldom mentioned in the history of the automobile industry and racing is the fact that Macomb County, Michigan was once home to the fastest auto track in the world.  Packard Motor Car Foundation board member John F. MacArthur will explain how the Packard Proving Grounds Test Track in Shelby Township achieved that designation when he presents a program entitled "The Fastest Track in the World" at Mount Clemens Public Library on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 12:00 p.m.

The Packard Proving Grounds Historic Site, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is undergoing restoration of historic structures and the development of museum facilities. Mr. MacArthur will discuss the preservation and interpretive activities underway at the site and will illustrate his presentation with historic photographs.

Please join us for a look at this fascinating aspect of Macomb County's history. The program is free and open to the public and no registration is necessary.
