You may know that Mount Clemens was once a world-famous mineral bath resort, but did you also know that the Bath City was the home of a thriving theatrical colony in the days before motion pictures? Learn more on Tuesday, April 23, at noon, when local history librarian Deborah Larsen presents an illustrated program entitled "When the Stars Came to Mount Clemens." Larsen, who recently wrote an article on the subject for the March/April 2013 issue of Michigan History magazine, will follow the story of the Mount Clemens theatrical colony from its founding to its demise. The program will include stories and photos of some of the performers who made Mount Clemens their off-season home.
The program is open to the public and no registration is required. For further information, call the library at 586-469-6200.
