On Tuesday, March 26 the library will welcome guest speaker Radford W. Jones, who will present a program entitled "The History of the Secret Service and My Time with the Kennedy Detail." This presentation will begin at 12:00 p.m. in the library auditorium.
Mr. Jones retired from the United States Secret Service after a 21-year career, during which he served on protection details for presidents, vice presidents, and many visiting foreign dignitaries. His presentation will give an overview of the Secret Service and its areas of responsibility, and will also include stories of his experiences in serving on the John F. Kennedy presidential protection detail.
Upon his retirement from the Secret Service in 1983, Mr. Jones joined Ford Motor Company, from which he later retired as Manager of Security and Fire Protection. He then joined the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University, where he teaches a graduate level course in homeland security.
The program is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
