Library Holiday Hours

Mount Clemens Public Library will be CLOSED on Monday, February 18 in observance of the Presidents Day federal holiday. Regular library hours will resume on Tuesday, February 19 at 9:00 a.m.  While we are closed, all electronic library services will remain available through our web site, including our online catalog, media download center, databases, and digital archive.  Drop boxes for return of library material will be available outside the north (parking lot) entrance to the building.

Flags Lowered in Honor of Fallen Soldier

The library's flags are flying at half-staff today in honor of Sgt. Mark Schoonhoven, of Fort Carson, Colo. and formerly of Plainwell, Mich. Sgt. Schoonhoven, 38, died Jan. 20, 2013 at Brooke Army Medical Center in Houston, Texas from wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device on Dec. 15, 2012 in Kabul, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 32nd Transportation Company, 43 Sustainment Brigade, 4th Infantry Division in Fort Carson, Colo.

Sgt. Schoonhoven attended Plainwell High School, and joined the U.S. Army in 2006. He served as a motor transport operator for the 32nd Transportation Company, 43rd Sustainment Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, and previously served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was serving his fifth tour of duty.
