Macomb County Obituary Index Update

Mount Clemens Public Library and the Macomb County Genealogy Group are pleased to announce an update to the Macomb County Obituary Index. The update adds 8,140 new records to the database, making a grand total of 217,651 obituary index records on file.  Our thanks go out to the following volunteers who have contributed to this update: Geraldine Carrick, Janith Hopp, Herb Savage, Mary Freer, Karen Brewer, Sue Long, Craig Reynolds, Dianne Buckerfield and Ann Faulkner.  Without the generous efforts of these volunteers, we would not be able to make this valuable resource available to researchers everywhere at no cost.

Local Author Presents Program on Bullying

Local author and illustrator Dakei Harvey will present a special program on bullying on Thursday, July 12 at 4:00 p.m. at the Jermaine Jackson-Cairns Community Center, 58 Orchard, Mount Clemens.  Harvey has written and illustrated a series of books featuring a young character named Roger Crabgrass, who is a victim of bullying. Through the eyes of Roger Crabgrass, Harvey explores the effects of bullying and suggests strategies for diffusing and preventing it.  His program, entitled "Change Makes Cents: Roger Crabgrass Talks About Bullying," is designed to empower children to help prevent bullying situations and to cope with them when they occur.

The program is free and open to the public. No registration is necessary.  Please note that this event will take place at the Jermaine Jackson-Cairns Community Center at 58 Orchard, NOT at the library building.
