Library Closed for Thanksgiving Day

The library will CLOSE at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23 and all day on Thursday, November 24 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Regular library hours will resume on Friday, November 25, at 9:00 a.m.  While we are closed, all electronic library services will remain available through the library's web site.  Drop boxes for return of library materials will be available outside of the north (parking lot) entrance to the building.

Library Closed for Veterans Day Holiday

The library will be CLOSED on Friday, November 11 in observance of the Veterans Day federal holiday. Regular library hours will resume on Saturday, November 12 at 9:00 a.m.  While the library is closed, all electronic services, including our online catalog, databases, and media download center will be available from our web site.  Drop boxes for return of library materials will be available near the north (parking lot) entrance to the building and will be emptied by library staff during the holiday.

Flags Lowered in Honor of Fallen SEAL

The library's flags are flying at half-staff today in honor of U.S. Navy Surface Warfare Operator Chief Petty Officer Heath M. Robinson, a Navy SEAL, of Petoskey, Michigan. Chief Robinson, 34, was among 30 service members killed on Aug.6 while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Their helicopter was shot down by enemy forces in Afghanistan's Wardak province.

Chief Robinson was assigned to the East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare Unit. He enlisted in the Navy in January 1996 and completed Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL school in Coronado, Calif., in January 2000. His decorations include four Bronze Star Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, a Combat Action Ribbon, two Presidential Unit Citations, a Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, five Navy Good Conduct Medals, the Navy Fleet Marine Force Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, two Afganistan Campaign Medals, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, six Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, the NATO Medal, the Navy Expert Rifleman Medal and the Navy Expert Pistol Shot Medal.
