The library will be CLOSED from Saturday, September 3 through Monday, September 5 in observance of the Labor Day holiday weekend. Regular library hours will resume on Tuesday, September 6 at 9:00 a.m. As always, the library's electronic services, including our online catalog, digital archive, media download center and research databases will be available 24/7 from the library's web site. Drop boxes for return of library materials will be available outside the north (parking lot) entrance to the building and will be emptied periodically by library staff during the holiday weekend.
The library's flags are flying at half-staff today in honor of U.S. Army Corporal Joseph A. VanDreumel of Standale, Michigan. Corporal VanDreumel, 32, died Aug. 14 in the Paktika province of Afghanistan while conducting vehicle recovery operations and encountering a secondary explosion. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion of the 2nd Infantry Regiment in the 172nd Infantry Brigade stationed in Grafenwoehr, Germany. He joined the Army in January 2010 and trained at Fort Knox, Kentucky, before serving in Germany from August 2010 through July 2011 and then Afghanistan.
Mount Clemens Public Library is located in Macomb County, Michigan. We are one of the oldest public libraries in the state of Michigan, having been founded in 1865. MCPL is a member of the Suburban Library Cooperative (SLC), an association of public libraries in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties.
