Flags Lowered in Honor of Fallen Soldier

The library's flags are flying at half-staff today in honor of Army Specialist Joseph “Joey” Prentler of Fenwick, Michigan, who died October 4 in Mama Kariz, Afghanistan, from wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his military vehicle using an improvised explosive device.

Spc. Prentler, age 20, was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany.

Library Hosts Blood Drive


The library will host an American Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday, October 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please help us to keep life-giving blood supplies available in our area. Walk-ins are welcome, but if you would like to schedule an appointment, please phone 586-469-6662. Give the gift of life!

Flags Lowered in Honor of Fallen Marine

The library's flags are flying at half-staff today in honor of Marine Sergeant Anthony D. Matteoni of Kalamazoo, Michigan, who died October 1 in Afghanistan, while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Sgt. Matteoni, age 22, was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
