Flags Lowered in Honor of Fallen Soldier
The library's flags are flying at half-staff today in honor of Army Sergeant Dillon B. Foxx of Traverse City who died in Bala Murghab, Afghanistan while on active duty supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Sgt. Dillon, age 22, died February 5 from wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
A memorial service for Sgt. Foxx is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, February 19, at the NMC Hagerty Center in Traverse City.
