The library is pleased to announce that Sarah Ellison is the Division II winner of the 2009 Elizabeth Blay Maison Schelling Local History Writing Contest.
Our independent panel of judges selected Sarah's essay on Mount Clemens history from among those submitted by high school students.
Sarah is seventeen years old and is in the twelfth grade at Lutheran High School North. Her essay discusses changes that have occurred in a Mount Clemens neighborhood over the lifetime of one tree planted in 1889. Sarah received a certificate of achievement and a cash prize donated by Lorelei Maison Rockwell, who sponsors the essay contest in memory of her late mother, Elizabeth Blay Maison Schelling.
