Flags Lowered in Honor of Fallen Soldier
The library's flags are flying at half-staff today in honor of Army Sergeant Christopher T. Griffin of Kincheloe who died in Kamdesh, Afghanistan, while on active duty supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Sgt. Griffin, age 24, died October 3 alongside seven of his comrades when enemy forces attacked their contingency outpost with small arms, rocket-propelled grenades, and indirect fires. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado. Sergeant Griffin was posthumously upgraded from Specialist to Sergeant.
