In Memory of Robert Bauer

Mount Clemens Public Library has lost a good friend and supporter this week in the passing of Robert Bauer. Bob served as a valued member of the library Board of Trustees from 2008-2009, and was a long-time volunteer assistant in our local history and genealogy room, where he generously shared his expertise with many researchers.

Bob had a keen interest in writing and storytelling, and led two writing groups at the library, where he encouraged participants to bring the element of human experience into the documentation of their personal and family histories. He also participated in the Mount Clemens Raconteurs storytelling group, and led a workshop on memoir writing at our 2008 Macomb Book Fair.

Bob Bauer was generous to the library both with his time and with his treasure, and made frequent donations for the enhancement of the local history and genealogy collection of Mount Clemens Public Library. These gifts will continue to benefit library patrons for years to come. He will be fondly remembered by all of his friends and colleagues at the library and within the local genealogy and storytelling communities.

We will miss you, Bob, but we will simply consider this milestone as marking the beginning of another chapter in your ongoing story.

The family of Bob Bauer wish to express their gratitude for the heartfelt support received from his friends at the library during these past days. The stories shared with the family were a tremendous help during this difficult time. It was a pleasure meeting all of you, and placing faces with the names that Bob has shared with us over the past years.

Sincerely,
Kathy (Bauer) & Hal Buttermore
