Media Download Center Launches Today!
You are invited to visit our brand-new Media Download Center which officially launches today! This new web site offers a catalog of talking books and music and video selections, all of which are available for free download to your personal computer or portable device. To use this new service, you need:
--a current and valid library card from Mount Clemens Public Library or one of our media group partners
--your own personal computer, laptop, or portable device with access to the Internet (dial-up is not recommended for using this service)
--a copy of the free download management software loaded on your personal computer
When you visit the new site, you will find a handy quick start guide and FAQ link on the left side of the page. This information will guide you through the process of downloading and installing the free software, and tell you which types of portable devices are supported. Once you have the software, you can select items, place them in your cart, and check out (the service works in a manner similar to Amazon.com and many other online shopping sites). After you have checked out with your library card, your items will be available for download and you will have exclusive use of them to the end of the loan period, at which time they will be automatically returned to the library collection and made available for other users. No overdue fees, ever! If a title you want is already checked out to another user, you can place a hold on it, just as you do for regular library material, and you will be notified via e-mail when the item is returned to the digital collection and becomes available for your use.
If you would like a demonstration of the Media Download Center and how to use it, please join librarian Kristy Taormina for a live demonstration on Tuesday, March 10 at 3 p.m. or Thursday, April 23 at 7 p.m. No registration is necessary.
