Book Fair Sneak Preview


It's not too soon to mark your calendar for our Macomb Book Fair and Writers' Conference, which will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009. To whet your appetite, here's a preview of one of the sessions that will be offered:

"Necessary Evils – Editing and Grammar – Having Your Manuscript Edited For Publication," presented by Sharon M. Stanford
This workshop will explain what to expect from the editing process and how good editing can improve your chances of getting published. Participants will learn common mistakes that writers make and different types of editing. They will also receive resources and guides to improve their writing skills.

Sharon M. Stanford is a former President of the Detroit Writer’s Guild.  In 2000, Sharon won the Grand Prize in the Gertrude Johnson Williams Literary Contest for Ebony Magazine for her short story, “Fannie Lou’s Dream.” She has been a freelance writer for the Michigan Chronicle and was published in Chicken Soup to Inspire a Woman’s Soul in 2004. In addition to conducting workshops and critiquing manuscripts, she is currently the senior editor for Aquarius Press, located in Detroit, Michigan, Sharon was mostly recently editor and contributor for It’s Worth the Struggle: Inspiration for Contemporary Writers, published in 2008.
