Michigan One-Room Schoolhouses
One-room schools are an important part of Michigan's cultural heritage. Once dotting the landscape approximately every five miles, the remaining schoolhouses stand as landmarks and a reminder of our rural past. Artist and photographer Mary Keithan has traveled the back roads of Michigan in search of the best examples of this rural architecture, capturing them with her 8" x 10" view camera. Mary Keithan will join us on Tuesday, October 14 at 12:10 p.m. to discuss her new book, Michigan One-Room Schoolhouses, which features her photographs together with information about each schoolhouse's architecture and history.
This program is free and open to the public. Please join us!
