Saying Goodbye To VHS
In the coming year, Mount Clemens Public Library will join the rest of the Suburban Library Cooperative in a major technology upgrade. As part of this process, the library will be withdrawing all VHS format videotapes from our shelves. Our primary vendors no longer offer this outdated format for feature and instructional films, so we have been unable to purchase new materials in this format for some time. The remaining VHS items on our shelves are heavily worn, and in many cases have been spliced and repaired multiple times. For these reasons, and to assist us in converting our collection to our new technology format, VHS format videotapes will be withdrawn from the library by December 31, 2008. We will continue to purchase new movies and instructional films in DVD format.
