Movie Theater Memories
In the age of IMAX and multi-screen cineplex entertainment centers, it may be hard to remember when most main streets in America boasted one single-screen movie theater with an early and late evening show and matinees on Saturday afternoons (Mount Clemens' own Jewel Theater is shown in the photo at left). If you remember those days, you won't want to miss our September local history lecture! Authors Michael V. Doyle and Jack R. Miller will present their recently-published book, Boxoffice Open: Michigan's Small Town Movie Theaters on Wednesday, September 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the library auditorium. This program is offered through a partnership between the Macomb County Historical Society and Mount Clemens Public Library. Join us for popcorn and a nostalgic look back at small-town movie houses of days gone by. The program is free and no registration is necessary.
