William R. Hamilton Records Added to Funeral Home Collection

Genealogists and local historians will be happy to know that the library has just added records from the William R. Hamilton Funeral Home to our growing funeral home collection in the genealogy room. The funeral home's history dates back to 1855, and it was located for many years at the corner of Cass & Alexandrine in Detroit, before acquiring locations in Birmingham in 1952 and Mount Clemens in 1979.
The master index for the entire funeral home records collection may be searched online by clicking here.
Our thanks to Barry Hamilton of William R. Hamilton Funeral Home for allowing access to the records: to genealogists Karen Lee Hemme Rogers and Brenda McMahon Miller for transcribing and indexing them; and to genealogist Ann Faulkner for maintaining the master index files.
The collection now comprises 134 volumes of transcribed records from eight different funeral homes.
