Fun For Kids at Stars and Stripes Festival

Mount Clemens' second annual Stars & Stripes Festival will be held Friday, June 27 through Sunday, June 29, and the library is participating by presenting "Star Spangled Fun For Kids" with special programs at the corner of New & Cherry streets in the festival area.
Brad Lowe Fantasy E-Fex Puppets and puppeteer entertainers Daren Dundee and Mary Ellen Clark will present shows on all three days of the festival at 1:30, 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.
Artist Angelika Wynes and many volunteers will oversee a crafts tent where children can make a star wand, a drum or a mask, from 12 noon until 6 p.m. on all three festival days. All craft and puppet shows are free.
On Saturday, June 28, youngsters and adults are invited to join in the Star Spangled Fun Parade. Line-up starts at 4 p.m. with the parade beginning about 20 minutes later. Children may carry crafts they made in the craft area, or they may bring their own puppets, funny hats, costumes or decorated wagons to join in the fun. NO BIKES, please.
Programming is supported in part by a grant from the Michigan Council of Arts and Cultural Affairs. Space for children's programming was donated by Ted Schollenberger. Members of the Detroit Puppeteers Guild are organizing the parade.
Come out and join us for a fun-filled, star-spangled weekend. For more information about all of the Stars & Stripes Festival events, vist the festival web site.
