MCPL Genealogy Collection Wins Award

Mount Clemens Public Library has always been proud of its genealogy collection and the many volunteers who donate their time to provide in-depth assistance to researchers, or to index records and compile databases. Now we have even more reason to be proud, as the library has been recognized in the July, 2008 issue of Family Tree Magazine as one of the top 50 genealogy libraries in the United States.

Not content to showcase only the largest and most well-known libraries, Family Tree Magazine sought out libraries large and small with outstanding collections. The top libraries were recognized in twelve different categories. Mount Clemens Public Library is recognized in the "Super Society-Library Collaboration" category. If you are not familiar with the extent of our collaboration with the Macomb County Genealogy Group, just visit our database page and look at all of the wonderful online local indexes that our partnership has produced!

For general information about the library's genealogy holdings, visit our genealogy web page, and stop by the Macomb County Genealogy Group's site for information about programs and activities.
