New Family Atlases Gift of Alexander Macomb DAR

The library's local history and genealogy collection has received a gift from the Alexander Macomb Chapter, NSDAR, which has allowed us to add four more volumes of the Arphax family maps series to our shelves. The new volumes are:

Ionia County (MICH R929.377454 BOY)
Lapeer County (MICH R929.377442 BOY)
Livingston County (MICH R929.377361 BOY)
Shiawassee County (MICH R929.377425 BOY)

The Arphax family map books are a valuable tool for tracing the first families to settle in a specific township. Overlays provide current map data so that ancestral parcels can be accurately located, and the land entry dates are helpful in tracking group migrations to a given area.

The library already owns copies of the Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw, Cass, Genesee, Lenawee and Saginaw county map books, and will continue to purchase other Michigan counties as they become available. Our thanks to the members of the Alexander Macomb Chapter, NSDAR, for making it possible to add these new volumes.
