Mount Clemens Public Library has lost a good friend and treasured library patron in the death of Paul J. Sonnenberg. Mr. Sonnenberg, a lifelong resident of Mount Clemens, died April 10. He was a 1932 graduate of Mount Clemens High School, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and had retired from the U.S. Army Reserve as a lieutenant colonel. He enjoyed a 39-year career with Detroit Edison, and retired in 1970 as the general services supervisor of the Macomb Division.
Paul Sonnenberg was very active in several community organizations. He was a devoted member and past president of the Macomb County Historical Society, a life member of The Old Crowd, and charter member of the Mount Clemens Historical Commission. He was a regular library patron for as long as his health permitted, and was always generous with his time and expertise in the area of local history.
We will miss him.
